Brief History of Breakglass

Breakglass Studios is a cutting-edge recording studio located in the vibrant city of Montreal. Founded in 2005 by Jace Lasek, Olga Goreas, and David Smith, Breakglass has quickly established itself as a leader in the Canadian music scene, producing top-quality recordings across a range of genres.

James Benjamin, a dynamic musician, producer, composer, and DJ, joined the Breakglass team as a partner in 2011. With a background in electronic and rock music, Benjamin has worked with a diverse roster of artists including Kaytranada, Purity Ring, Lunice, CFCF, Stars, Honeydrip, Marie Davidson, and Pelada. His innovative and intricate work has earned him praise for his creativity and depth, culminating in a 2021 Grammy win for his contributions to Kaytranada's acclaimed album "Bubba".

Jace Lasek, the frontman of the celebrated indie rock band The Besnard Lakes, is a two-time Juno Award winning producer, mixer and singer-songwriter-composer whose atmospheric and experimental production and mix styles have garnered attention from a wide range of artists, including Wolf Parade, Patrick Watson, Land of Talk, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Stars and Suuns.

Together, Benjamin and Lasek have transformed Breakglass Studios into a thriving hub for artists in Montreal and beyond.
